Why become a Teacher?

Why become a Teacher?

It is not about the paycheck. It is not about getting a long summer vacation. Being a teacher to me, means sculpting today's future. I want to make a difference in people's lives, small or large. I would love to pass down the knowledge I have to the children I teach. I want to be there physically for my students when they are having a bad day. I want to make them feel comfortable and welcomed in my classroom. Most people spend about sixteen or seventeen years with teachers (professors). We grow as people thanks to the one'a teaching us. I have learned a lot more than just solving a math equation, observing scientific data, writing an essay, or learning about our past. I grew as a person, not only intellectually, but mentally and emotionally too. Teacher's were there when no one else was, they listened, they guided me. I can honestly say, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the life lessons I have learned thanks to some pretty awesome people.

If I can teach a student what he or she needs to learn intellectually, I will be happy. If I know I changed their lives in some shape or form, I will go home every day feeling successful. That is what matters to me.

  1. What ages do you want to teach? Is there any specific subject you want to focus on?

  4. Jacqui,

I loved reading this post! I feel as though you are extremely passionate about what you want for your students and being able to help them succeed not only as a student, but as a person as well. I really enjoyed how you started this blog off as, "It's not about the paycheck. It's not about getting a long summer vacation.", it really shows how passionate you actually are about wanting to teach children! I completely agree with everything you stated! :)

    Great job!
